about us

Using the past to thrive in the present.

The trauma that countless people experience during childhood can have devastating consequences on their future. The ClereStory Education Fund (CEF) addresses the emotional wellness needs of young adults, adults, and parents with a history of abuse- emotional, physical, and substance. CEF works with participants to help them identify their trauma induced self-limiting beliefs; learn from them, overcome their influence, and create new empowering narratives about who they can become in the world.

Emotional trauma is a growing epidemic with dire results. According to a study conducted by the 2008 Presidential Task Force on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Trauma in Children and Adolescents, up to 85% of youth in our target population have witnessed community violence, nearly 66% have been the victim of violence, 25% to 43% have been exposed to sexual abuse and 60% of adults have experienced some form of abuse in their childhood. A similar study concluded that anyone who experiences trauma is: 15 times more likely to attempt suicide, 4 times more likely to become and alcoholic, 4 times more likely to inject drugs, and three times more likely to use antidepressant medication.

What we aim to solve

The ClereStory Education Fund provides stipends and tuition support for students in the U.S. and abroad who are often passed over and ignored. These are students who come from poor communities and are often the first generation of students to attend college in their families. Most will never attend college if someone doesn’t show up.

The ClereStory Educational Fund also known as ClereStory Works is a recognized 501C3 non-profit. Tax ID 27-2777323
